How do you ensure modern and sustainable property management in a time when the demands for efficiency, digitalization, and green transition are accelerating?

That was the focal point when Upsite, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, hosted the event Ambitious Property Management - a day dedicated to inspiration, knowledge sharing, and concrete tools for the operations of the future.

The green transition is a reality

For most companies, the green transition is no longer a vision for the future, but a real and noticeable part of everyday life. Requirements and recommendations are being tightened, and many operations managers simultaneously face limited resources and a lack of specialized knowledge. Added to this is an increasing pressure to streamline daily tasks, while the role of operations manager is increasingly expanded to include responsibility for sustainability initiatives.

Nevertheless, green development and efficient operations are not opposites. On the contrary, they can support and strengthen each other. A solid knowledge of the building's condition, history, and needs, combined with a systematic approach to operations, creates a strong foundation for both a more efficient everyday life and the green development that many companies demand. This is precisely why operations managers are key players in this transformation.

Data as the foundation for the property management of the future

The key focus of the event was how data-based operations and maintenance planning can free up time, reduce resource consumption, and elevate quality in daily processes. Participants were guided through both the digital possibilities and the sustainable benefits that arise when data forms the basis for decisions and priorities.

Throughout the day, it became clear how property management plays a crucial role in companies' work with sustainability. Participants gained insight into the current regulations and frameworks, including the EU Taxonomy and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which already affect daily operations and will impose even stricter requirements in the future. At the same time, it was demonstrated how digital tools can support daily operations, the necessary systematization, and the implementation of sustainable initiatives.

The many examples and experiences painted a clear picture of how data can be used strategically to optimize property management and drive real change.

The atmosphere of the day was characterized by engaging presentations, positive conversations, and valuable exchange of experience. The discussions quickly evolved into concrete talks about everyday challenges and the solutions that many recognized from their own practice.

The role of property management in the green transition

Nicolaj Krogsbæk Bøgh, Head of Energy and Indoor Climate at Transition ApS, provided a clear overview of the role of property management in the green transition. He offered insights into the revised EU directives, where several requirements have already come into force, and where the building and energy efficiency directives in particular will have a major impact going forward. His message was clear: operations managers play a key role in translating requirements into concrete action.

Data as a driving force in modern property management

This was followed by Søren Schødt, architectural technologist and founder of Upsite, who emphasized the importance of structured property maintenance. He demonstrated how data and digital tools can create systematization, strengthen documentation, and allow room for more sustainable initiatives without compromising efficiency.

Digitalization and data-driven property management in practice

Kenneth Bo Christensen, independent consultant with expertise in FM systems and data, and founder of Bygdrift, concluded the presentations with a perspective on how data and digital systems can function as strategic drivers in operations organizations. He emphasized that digitalization is not only about technology, but just as much about the development of competencies and workflows.
